An Outline to Corrosive Bacteria
نویسندگان
چکیده
The metallic corrosion is a spontaneous process that causes damage in almost all sectors of human activity. Among the most affected structures stand out the pipes for oil transportation. The biocorrosion occurs due to the fixation of bacteria, release of metabolites and formation of biofilms that induce or accelerate the corrosion process. Among the groups of bacteria involved in the corrosion process are included: IEPS-producing bacteria, IIacid-producing bacteria, IIIsulfuroxidizing bacteria; IViron-precipitating bacteria and Vsulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB). The main methods used in industry to prevent the spread of corrosive bacteria include biocides, protective coatings (antifouling) and corrosion inhibitors. This article provides an overview of biofilm formation process and biocorrosion discussing the main groups of corrosive bacteria, as well as the current methods and alternative techniques to control these environmentally harmful processes. In addition, the review throws the idea that plant compounds may be employed to control biocorrosion.

An investigation of the corrosive wear of steel balls in grinding of sulphide ores
Ball mills are common grinding equipment in mineral processing industries. Ball wear results from three mechanisms namely impact, abrasion and corrosion. Of these, the corrosion mechanism is the least investigated, due to its chemical-electrochemical nature. Therefore, the aims of this research were to investigate the grinding chemistry influence (slurry pH, solid percentage, water chemistry an...
متن کاملSufism in the Western History : A Primary Outline
The phenomenon of Western Sufi teachers is unique, not just because of the individuals themselves, though they are certainly fascinating, but because of what they represent: the flowering of the Western genius, which has discovered Eastern traditions, absorbed them and in the process changed them and been changed by them. This paper is a primary outline of the main contours of this phenomenon, ...
متن کاملAttachment of Listeria monocytogenes to an austenitic stainless steel after welding and accelerated corrosion treatments.
Austenitic stainless steels, widely used in food processing, undergo microstructural changes during welding, resulting in three distinctive zones: weld metal, heat-affected zone, and base metal. This research was conducted to determine the attachment of Listeria monocytogenes in these three zones before and after exposure to a corrosive environment. All experiments were done with tungsten inert...
متن کاملCorrosion Fatigue of 17-4pH Stainless Steel in a Simulated Sea Water Solution
Since martensitic precipitation hardened 17-4pH stainless steel has been widely used in corrosive environments, evaluation of its corrosion fatigue behavior is important. In this research, after microstructural studies, mechanical, corrosion, fatigue and corrosion fatigue tests were performed on 17-4pH specimens. Fatigue and corrosion fatigue tests were carried out at the stress ratio of -1 an...
متن کاملNeutron Reflectometry for Studying Corrosion and Corrosion Inhibition
Neutron reflectometry is an extremely powerful technique to monitor chemical and morphological changes at interfaces at the angstrom-level. Its ability to characterise metal, oxide and organic layers simultaneously or separately and in situ makes it an excellent tool for fundamental studies of corrosion and particularly adsorbed corrosion inhibitors. However, apart from a small body of key stud...
